This wonderful 12,500 square feet public park will be another step to make the area greener and a more active people-friendly environment. The project is a part of the $1.82 billion dollar development that was formerly the Golden Shoe Carpark located on Market Street. The public park is just one part of the re-development of this area. There will be new cycle paths added along the streets which connect to the Central Area Cycling Network.
The redevelopment of the old carpark, located at 88 Market Street, into a $1.82 billion dollar unified effort conducted by CapitaLand, CapitaLand Commercial Trust, and Mitsubishi Estate.
During the ground-breaking ceremony, the National Development Minister said this project is aiming to make the area greener and a “vibrant people-friendly zone”.
The National Development Minister, who is also the Second Minister for Finance, hopes Raffles Place will be a place that is very active during the working hours during the day and also a place where people will gather and interact during the evening hours.
The projected $280 million dollar development of the 51-story tower will be the tallest building in Raffles Place. It will house 350 carpark spaces running from levels 4 to 8. The CapitaGreen, which is a 40-story office tower on the site opened in 2015 and offers 180 parking spots.
Owned by the Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, the Market Street Food Centre previously housed the Golden Shoe Carpark which will reopen on the second and third levels. Stallholders are operating at the temporary food centre on Cross Street.
The work is expected to start next year and should complete by the first half of 2021. The building will be one million square feet, 635,000 square feet of office space, and 299 units that will be run by the Ascott.
There will be a City Room on the ground floor which will be used for community events and there will also be sky garden.
Everyone involved, believe this project will attract many businesses looking for a futuristic environment to grow their enterprises and attract the most talented people to work with them.
All the work being put into this project is due to the increasing concerns of people who want a better, healthier living environment. The key players for the development believe their plan will be a great success and something the public is looking forward to.
